To ensure service continuity, redundancy mechanisms are already implemented on most network infrastructures, but stop at switches.

OVHcloud Link Aggregation (OLA) goes even further. You can use it to aggregate your server’s physical network links (public and private), and group them together as a single virtual link attached to the private network. You can then increase your server’s availability and private bandwidth.

Improved availability

You can use OLA technology to aggregate all physical network links on your server — up to four links on the Scale and High Grade ranges. This way, you can avoid any potential service interruptions resulting from the loss of one or more network links — so you get optimal availability and resilience for your infrastructure.

By enabling OLA on the new Scale and High Grade ranges, you can aggregate the four 25G physical network links. You can then get up to 50Gbps guaranteed private bandwidth*. In addition to this throughput capacity, both ingress and egress traffic are always unlimited** at OVHcloud.

Advance Servers

The servers in the Advance range have a private interface, and a public one. With OLA, you can aggregate the two physical network links to the private network. You can reach speeds of up to 6Gbit/s with the combined benefits of the vRack private network and OVHcloud Link Aggregation technology.

Scale and High Grade servers

Scale and High Grade servers have four physical network links by default: two public links, and two private links. With OLA technology, you can quickly aggregate both private and public physical network links.

For maximum redundancy, you can aggregate the four server links on the private network, and isolate your infrastructure from the public network. By doing this, you can get an unlimited, guaranteed 25Gbit/s high-speed private network for Scale, and 50Gbit/s unlimited and guaranteed for High Grade.

FAQ

What are the requirements for enabling OLA?

First, the feature needs to be enabled from the OVHcloud Control Panel, or via an API. Next, the network interface aggregation needs to be configured on the server’s operating system.

Which dedicated servers are compatible with the OVHcloud Link Aggregation feature?

Our Advance, Scale and High Grade ranges are compatible. With Advance dedicated servers, you can aggregate two physical network links. With the Scale and High Grade ranges, you can aggregate up to four physical network links.

Is the OLA feature free?

Yes, this is a free feature included with all Advance, Scale and High Grade servers. You just need to enable it via the OVHcloud Control Panel.

If I aggregate all my links on the private network, how do I access my server?

By enabling OLA, your server is isolated from the public network. As a result, you will need to use the IPMI tool to access your server. Monitoring will also be disabled for your server.
