Make your backups easier to store
To transfer your data, simply connect to your Backup Storage solution via the protocol of your choice, then load your files. With NFS and CIFS protocols, you can view and access data stored on a remote backup server. You can also mount this space locally, so you can edit your files as if they were on a local disk. This way, you can easily use all of the admin tools to perform backups.

What is the Backup Storage solution?
The Backup Storage solution is a backup space based on NFS technology, and is designed to store your backups. It has a 500GB capacity, and is included for free with every OVHcloud dedicated server. This service is useful for storing high volumes of data, and configuration files. It also gives you a space to keep your data when you need to reinstall the server. With FTP backup protocols, such as NFS or CIFS, you can mount your volume locally on the machine, and manipulate files as if they were on a local disk. You can also automate backups using simple scripts, by pushing data to Backup Storage.
What is the difference between Backup Storage and a storage server?
Storage servers share certain features with our Backup Storage solution. However, there are major differences between the two systems. With Backup Storage, for example, you get 500GB of storage for free — and this space is fully managed by OVHcloud. You can access your backup files using a range of protocols (FTP, FTPS, NFS or CIFS), and easily scale the volume up to 10TB. Access to your storage is limited to your server’s IP address. This can be one of your primary IPs, or a floating IP.
Although they offer more options, storage servers require administration, just like your primary server. This means you can choose how and where you want to access your files, and adapt the settings to suit your needs. You can also centralise data from multiple servers and different datacentres. Unlike the Backup Storage solution, storage servers can be accessed from both the internet, and the OVHcloud vRack private network. Finally, these machines are customisable in terms of disk space, and have unlimited bandwidth for regular backups.
